100 mpg in an old Lincoln made of steel & iron? And yet the Big-3 in Detroit can only NOW muster a few hybrids that get about 35 mpg at best! And they wonder why they're about to go bankrupt?! It's pathetic. And it's bad management. They doubled-down on big SUV's and gas guzzlers and they're looking for government handouts. I'm torn between wanting to let the free market teach them a very painful lesson, and protecting the millions of jobs that are tied into the auto industry. Maybe instead of looking at this as crisis; we & they should look at this as an opportunity to change. Start making the move to build high-efficiency hybrids and fuel cell cars that will not only help the environment, but will make our country more secure by allowing us to be energy independent.
