I'm pretty sure I just saw John Cusack zoom by on a 3-wheeled motorcycle. He is from Evanston -- my current city.

My friends in CA & WA will recognize this term: burn-off. We're experiencing it right now. It's unusual for Chicago.
Saw Echo & The Bunnymen last night. Very disappointing show: bad lighting, bad sound, and Ian McCulloch blathered incoherently between songs

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Chicago looks & feels like I'm on the deck of a lobster fishing boat in the north-Atlantic ocean right now!

Does anyone still believe that nuclear power is safe? Just an FYI: solar farms don't melt down; wind turbines don't leak radiation.

Hang the DJ...because the music that they constantly play, says nothing to me about my life.

Monday, March 14, 2011

I like "springing forward" with time. Now, when I take Roxy for a walk after work there will still be some daylight left.

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Rant du jour: Ladies: enough already with the stupid "fireman" boots. They were kinda cute 3 years ago, but it's SO played!

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

Signs of spring: Robins are chirping; trees have buds on them; and I've seen the first flowering plants poking through the ground.

Is it a law that says all 20-somethings in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood must own a black wool coat? Riding the CTA is like a funeral!

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Today. The good? I started working out again. :-) The bad? My car got broken into. Goodbye radar detector. :-(

Dave Duerson Dead: Former Bears Star Dies At 50

It's a shame that people feel the need to use this to promote their own issues like violence in professional sports. This story is sad because those of us in Chicago knew what a great player DD was and what a good person he seemed to be off the field. The 1985 team that DD played on meant SO much to a city that hadn't had a world championship in decades. We adopted them as our own and DD was a big part of that team. I only hope that this was somehow natural causes rather than foul play or self-inflicted. Best wishes to his family & friends.

Lara Logan Suffered 'Brutal' Sexual Assault In Egypt

Well put. After the repeated attacks on Anderson Cooper and others, I'm surprised that all news organizations didn't pull back. That being said, no one forces reporters to rush into dangerous situations. They accept the risks as part of the job. Nevertheless, it is deplorable.

Ten Bands That Shook The World

I don't know this for sure, but I suspect the author of this article is a baby boomer. Eight of the ten bands he cites are from the classic, baby boomer era. They're all great bands -- I love The Who and The Beatles as much as the next person. But having been fed a steady diet of baby boomer music my whole life, I'd argue that The Clash or The Sex Pistols or The Talking Heads, REM, etc. are also worthy of inclusion. And that's only scratching the surface of the 1980's. What about the 1990's and beyond???

PETA's Controversial New Super Bowl Ad (VIDEO/NSFW)

I think this is in poor taste (no pun intended) considering the serious message that PETA stands for. Will it turn heads? Yes. Will it generate controversy? Definitely. But will that controversy then lead to winning over converts who will then help bolster PETA's important campaigns? Highly doubtful.

Much like Michael Moore's "TV Nation" and Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect ", Keith Olbermann's "Countdown" was probably far too smart for "regular" television. I'm sure Keith will land on his feet and has a very bright future ahead of him. I look forward to watching his next show, on a different channel!
