Today I explored the Pioneer Square & Capitol Hill neighborhoods in Seattle and went to the top of the Space Needle.

Pretty cool: I'm checking in from a jet w/ WiFi, somewhere 35,000 ft. over the western US. Technology rules!

I went to see "Cedar Rapids" last weekend (Ed Helms, John C. Reily). It's laugh-out-loud hysterical. :-)

"The Tillman Story" about how our government lied about NFL star's death to sell the war to US public. Great movie about an amazing family!

I watched a great documentary about the Civil War. The soldiers referred to visiting a brothel as getting some "horizontal refreshment". :-)

Dave Duerson Dead: Former Bears Star Dies At 50

It's a shame that people feel the need to use this to promote their own issues like violence in profession­al sports. This story is sad because those of us in Chicago knew what a great player DD was and what a good person he seemed to be off the field. The 1985 team that DD played on meant SO much to a city that hadn't had a world championsh­ip in decades. We adopted them as our own and DD was a big part of that team. I only hope that this was somehow natural causes rather than foul play or self-infli­cted. Best wishes to his family & friends.

Ten Bands That Shook The World

I don't know this for sure, but I suspect the author of this article is a baby boomer. Eight of the ten bands he cites are from the classic, baby boomer era. They're all great bands -- I love The Who and The Beatles as much as the next person. But having been fed a steady diet of baby boomer music my whole life, I'd argue that The Clash or The Sex Pistols or The Talking Heads, REM, etc. are also worthy of inclusion. And that's only scratching the surface of the 1980's. What about the 1990's and beyond???

I think this is in poor taste (no pun intended) considerin­g the serious message that PETA stands for. Will it turn heads? Yes. Will it generate controvers­y? Definitely­. But will that controvers­y then lead to winning over converts who will then help bolster PETA's important campaigns? Highly doubtful.
