Ten Bands That Shook The World

I don't know this for sure, but I suspect the author of this article is a baby boomer. Eight of the ten bands he cites are from the classic, baby boomer era. They're all great bands -- I love The Who and The Beatles as much as the next person. But having been fed a steady diet of baby boomer music my whole life, I'd argue that The Clash or The Sex Pistols or The Talking Heads, REM, etc. are also worthy of inclusion. And that's only scratching the surface of the 1980's. What about the 1990's and beyond???

PETA's Controversial New Super Bowl Ad (VIDEO/NSFW)

I think this is in poor taste (no pun intended) considering the serious message that PETA stands for. Will it turn heads? Yes. Will it generate controversy? Definitely. But will that controversy then lead to winning over converts who will then help bolster PETA's important campaigns? Highly doubtful.

Devin Hester Touchdown: Bears Return Man Breaks Record With 14th TD (VIDEO)

As a Chicagoan and Bears fan, I've been lucky enough to see many of Devin Hester's amazing punt & kick returns. I think it was a mistake for the Bears to de-emphasize his return game in lieu of turning him into a full-time wide receiver. He's a pretty good receiver, but he's a spectacular return man. Luckily, this season he has returned to form and is once again putting focus on being a return man. Furthermore, the Bears also have Danieal Manning, who is another of the NFL's best return men. They make watching Bears special teams play something worth waiting for.

John Lennon 'Rolling Stone' Interview: Magazine Releases Beatle's Final Interview

I think it's very interesting that John Lennon was so against idol worship and not being a "dead hero" like Sid Vicious as he put it. I recall several years ago, that John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) had a television special called Rotten Television, where, in an effort to destroy such hero worship, he went to an auction, purchased a leather jacket which once belonged to Sid Vicious -- and burned it right there on television to prove a point: It's just clothing. It's not to be worshiped. I think John Lennon would have gotten a kick out of that.

I don't entirely agree with you Mr. Baldwin. While I do believe that Cheney, Libby, and Armitage belong in jail, I do not support your assertion that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange belongs there. He is being relentlessly smeared by the media -- with the help of numerous governments -- because they suddenly realize that there is no such thing as secrecy in the internet era. And that TERRIFIES them! Unfortunately, they are going to fall on Mr. Assange like a ton of bricks. No doubt they will arrest him on some bogus charges trumped up to make him seem evil. The truth is, he and WikiLeaks have done us all a huge service by revealing the secrets of an unjustified war.

Chicago Police Officer Shot and Killed on South Side, Homeowner Also Slain

And what part of the city of Chicago do you live in? My guess is that you are a rural, white male who has no business commenting on matters that do not concern you, namely the rules that govern the city of Chicago. The fact remains that these two brave policemen -- one current; one former -- were gunned down by a 19 year old with a handgun. How does a 19 year old thief acquire a handgun so easily? If he hadn't have been able to buy that gun, those two men would likely be alive today. Will you, or anyone from the pro-gun movement ever take ANY responsibility for this carnage? I doubt it.

Head Injuries: Why Motorcycle and Bicycle Helmets Should Be Mandatory

I have been a motorcycle rider for over 35 years. I have been a bicyclist for just as long. I also rollerblade and snowboard. I wear a helmet during all of these activities but I do NOT believe that it should be mandatory. Rather, those who choose NOT to wear helmets should be made to purchase special insurance that will cover any cost that might otherwise fall onto the public if they should be injured.

Chicago Police Officer Shot and Killed on South Side, Homeowner Also Slain

It's very sad that another Chicago police officer, and citizen, have been gunned down by easy-to-obtain handguns. Unfortunately, it will keep happening until enough people get sick of the violence and push lawmakers to enact real common-sense handgun laws and stop allowing the NRA and it's apologists to bully everyone else. And for all of those who claim that more guns are the answer: both of these men were current or former police officers, trained in the use of deadly force, were both armed, and unfortunately it did not save either of their lives.

Divorce! It's Good for the Children!

Ms. Smiley alludes to a step-father, though she never says whether or not her mom divorced or was a widow. I tend to think it's the latter, because having had parents who divorced when I was 14 I can tell you it was NOT good for me. Starting with the counseling session where I was blind-sided and told of my parents plans, and asked who did I "choose" to live with now? Ad to that the constant moving into new apartments, and not having a male role model to emulate or look to for reassurance. Then there was having to accept my parents new mates because it was what was expected of you. Divorce ripped me from a safe world, and through me into an uncertain environment where I was forced to grow up much sooner than was natural or beneficial. I don't know many kids who went through divorce who would claim that it was "good" for them. After all, the kids are the only ones who have no choice in the matter!

Bush's Waterboarding Admission Prompts Calls For Criminal Probe

I'm pretty sure that if someone other than George Bush admitted to a crime on national television, it would take hours or days at the most before they were arrested and prosecuted. Let's say a professional athlete admitted on television that he had hit-and-run someone. I think that they would arrest and prosecute that athlete quickly. So in this case, you have a public figure who has openly admitted to a war crime. Why should he NOT be prosecuted?!
